Star Cinema’s “The Breakup Playlist,” starring the Ultimate Heartthrob Piolo Pascual and Popstar Royalty Sarah Geronimo, is breaking box office records and it’s now on its second week on cinemas!
After scoring big in the local box office, "The Breakup Playlist" will have its international screenings.
“The Breakup Playlist” follows the story of Trixie David (Sarah Geronimo), a law student and hopeful musician, catches the attention of popular rock star Gino Avila (Piolo Pascual) during a music camp and invites her to be part of his band. Trixie and Gino’s connection through music soon develops into something more, and they fall in love. However, personal issues and ambition challenge Trixie and Gino’s love for each other. Will they be able to hold on to their love forever? Or will it, just like any song, end eventually?

In spite of inclement weather and competition from Hollywood movies, "The Breakup Playlist" held its own in the local tills and as of yesterday, July 8, it already breached the P100 million mark!
Award-winning director Dan Villegas, who helmed "The Breakup Playlist," extended his gratitude to those who went to see the movie.
"Maraming salamat! #TheBreakUpPlaylist #buhaypelikula," he wrote on Instagram (@dan_villegas).
Meanwhile, his fellow director and real-life girlfriend Antoinette Jadaone, who wrote the screenplay, posted on Twitter, "Yun o! Maraming salamat, yehey! Congrats Team #TheBreakupPlaylist!"
"The Breakup Playlist" grossed P15 million on its opening day last July 1, emerging as the top film among all others (foreign ones, included) that premiered that day.
“The Breakup Playlist” focuses on law student and aspiring musician Trixie David (Sarah Geronimo), who gets invited by famous rock star Gino Avila (Piolo Pascual) to join his band. Their love story is chronicled through the songs they wrote, sang, and listened to in the process.
The movie is directed by Dan Villegas and produced by Star Cinema and Viva Films.

The movie opened in only 180 cinemas but on the same day, July 1, Piolo announced on It's Showtime that they added 10 more cinemas that became 190 cinemas nationwide due to it's Box-office success.
Good news! On the third showing day, they added 10 more that make it 200 cinemas nationwide!
It's really a good news and is anticipated to add more cinemas on this coming first box-office weekend.
